Panama: Automotive Fleet - November 2016

They are 1.2 million vehicles in circulation in the country, of which 75% were registered in the provinces of Panama and Panama West.

From a report by the Traffic and Transportation Authority of Panama:

The auto fleet in Panama stands at 1,221,999 registered vehicles, according to the National Single Registry of Motor Vehicles (RUVM) at the Land Transport and Transit Authority (ATTT).

The statistics show the number of motor vehicles in circulation up to November 9, 2016.

The report by the RUVM at the ATTT highlights that the vehicle fleet in the province of Panama and Panama West reached 925.143 registered vehicles, which corresponds to 75.7% of the national total, followed by Chiriquí with 119.174 cars registered (9.7%) and Colon with 46.652, which is 3.8%.

Figures from the report "Central American Vehicle Park", prepared by CentralAmericaData's Business Intelligence Unit, show that as of December 2016, 2.2 million vehicles were circulating in Guatemala, of which more than half were automobiles and motorcycles.

Panama: More Pickup Trucks and Fewer Cars

January 2017

Between January and November 2016 imports of standard and luxury cars fell by 5% and 15% compared to the same period in 2015, respectively, while pickups grew by 20%.

Data from the General Comptroller of the Republic shows that total imports of new vehicles grew by 3.2% in the first eleven months of the year compared to the same period in 2015. 

Panama: Pickups and SUV´s Take Their Turn

August 2016

In the first half of the year registration of vehicles grew by 7%, driven by registrations of SUV vehicles, which grew by 18% and by pickup trucks, which grew by 35%.

Data from the Comptroller General of the Republic showed that in the first half of the year 33,164 vehicles were registered, of which 13,877 were regular cars, 1,424 were luxury cars, 9,568 SUVs and 5,111 pick ups, In addition about 2700 buses, trucks and other vehicles were registered.
