Nicaragua to Buy Medicines

The Procurement Unit at the Ministry of Health is inviting bids for supply of medicines for a period of 24 months.

Among the medicines required are, 500g Amoxicillin tablets, 500g Cephalexin tablets and 400g Ibuprofen oral tablets, among other drugs.

The deadline for submission of bids is July 6, 2012. The contact person is Mr. Ramon Cortes Mayorga, Director General of Acquisitions.

Medicine Supply Tender for $133 million

The Social Security Department in Panama is putting out to tender the supply and delivery of special medicines and other supplies to hospitals, clinics and other places to be determined.

Purpose of award:

Honduras to Change Medicine Purchases

March 2012

The country is to implement a so-called "reverse auctions" and price catalogs, with which they intend to save $12 million a year.

The authorities want to replicate a method practiced in Colombia which has enabled "extraordinary" savings, lowering prices by up to 40%, said the Honduran Minister of Health, Arturo Bendaña.
