New Call Center Begins Operations in Honduras

With an investment of $5 million, Guatemalan equity firm Allied Global will open a call center in San Pedro Sula on July 5th.

Located in the Galerías del Valle Mall in San Pedro Sula, the call center expects to have 2,000 people in the next two years.

Daniel Facussé, president of the Honduran Manufacturers Association, said the new Employment By Hours Act facilitated the arrival of this investment.

"Economists state that the call center industry is one of the few that are creating jobs in the north”, added Laprensa.hn.

According to the company, the call center will employ more than 3,000 people.

Manuel Gordo, company representative explained that it has 4 call centers in Guatemala, and this is the first on Honduran soil.

Allied Global has announced plans this year to add 800 jobs to its operations in Guatemala, making a total of 3,200 employees in Central America.

Along with the opening of 800 new jobs in Guatemala, Alejandra Rivas, marketing manager of the company, said they have plans to open a new call center in Honduras in May.

Located in the Plaza Zona 4 Shopping Center, the new call center consists of training rooms, a medical station, psychologist's room, and coffee room.

"Our expansion is the result of the good service and commitment we provide to our customers. Our plan is to grow and remain an important source of work for Guatemalans" explained Manuel Gordo, CEO of the company.

The company has an aggressive expansion plan for the country, which will only be restricted by the availability of bilingual personnel.

V Bharathwaj, company manager, told Prensalibre.com: "... for each direct job, the company could create 4 additional ones in related activities like transportation, maintenance or security, among others".
