The negotiation of the Agreement of Association continues, and the incorporation of Panama will depend on whether its signs the protocol economic integration with Central America.
Finally the geopolitical reality has been imposed and the Canal country has been formally integrated into the community of Central America nations.
Starting on July 1st, Panama will once again enjoy preferential tariff access to the European market, after losing this benefit on 2008, for failing to renew it on time.
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) has agreed to negotiate a trade agreement with Panama.
