The term logistics appears for the first time in the military referring to both the acquisition of equipment and materials for a mission and the timely mobilization of data and supplies.
At present, logistics is associated with procedures ranging from the purchase of raw materials to final product delivery to consumers. There are planning, implementation and integration processes involved. In other words, it includes all matters relating to production planning, package handling and packing, transportation, inventory management, purchase order processing and information management throughout the chain so that consumers get the products quickly, economically and reliably.
To successfully break into international markets, exporting firms have to ensure delivery of the correct order, compliance with the requested specifications and quality and adjustment to the agreed time. This can be achieved with a good logistical performance. Indeed, a good logistic performance can:
-Streamline the process of the exporting company.
-Avoid paying fines and surcharges from transporters, customs, and even the selfsame customers.
-Find the best options in terms of cost, or at least maintain the originally anticipated costs.
-Get new orders due to good performance.
-Maintain a good business relationship with clients.
-Forge a good image for the client, i.e., the exporter is considered a reliable, capable and professional supplier.

U.S. health authorities have granted sanitary approval for ready to eat products containing beef.

In order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the North American Free Trade Agreement between Central America and the Dominican Republic (CAFTA-DR), Costa Rica has carried out various tasks in order to be able to export traditional products with higher added value. As a result of these efforts, health authorities in the United States issued on December 5 the sanitary approval for Costa Rica, opening their market to imports of ready to eat products containing beef.

Today, entrepreneurs from Costa Rica as well as from other 34 countries take part of the opening ceremony of the XI Buyers Trade Mission. This activity is organized by the Foreign Trade Corporation (PROCOMER), at the Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel.
Exports have grown a mild 3.4%, with agricultural goods leading the way; Guatemala’s trade balance with the U.S. remains negative.
It is possible that the U.S economic crisis prevented the treaty from producing better results for Central American nations, but it is also probable that it helped soften the negative economic effects of said crisis.
