Boost to Franchises in Guatemala

An agreement between the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce and the Guatemalan Association of Franchising aims to promote the model in order to achieve growth by opening up new markets.

Aida Rios, president of the Guatemalan Association of Franchises (AGF in Spanish), said the support of the GCC will allow companies interested in franchising to compete in other countries, improve financing options and project their image at events.

The first stage will be training for unions and affiliates to the Chamber, said Rios.

"Jose Fernandez, CEO of Francorp, said that in Guatemala there are about 300 franchises operating, of which 75 are national. It also highlights that 15 Guatemalan franchises are already operating internationally," reports siglo21.com.gt.

Julius Caesar Loarca Zea, project manager at the Guatemalan Association of Franchises, said the entry into World Franchise Council (WFC) opens the doors for national franchises to Europe and Asia.
