The Tablet Business in Guatemala

This record growth contrasts with the increase of only 5% in sales of computers, laptops and netbooks.

The president of the Union of IT Businesses, Barreondo Manuel said that maintaining this growth rate, they will end the year with a total of 80,000 tablets sold.

"In the local market there are at least eight competing brands, including: the iPad from Apple, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and others from Asia including Titan, Coby and Epro as well as the CybertechPAD by Surtidora de Alta Tecnología (SAT.

Berreondo points out that the high sales lie in the prices being offered, ranging from Q9 thousand ($1,145) for an iPad to Q900 ($115) for a CybertechPAD", reports Elperiodico.com.gt.
