During the opening of the Recycling ExpoConferencia, Ernesto Gil, industry representative noted that currently there are a hundred and fifty registered companies in the country who carry out the tasks of collecting, sorting, packaging and shipping recycled material abroad.

The main export destinations are the USA, Brazil, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

Luis Godoy, president of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport), stated: 'It is believed that the demand for goods made from environmentally friendly standards will increase, meaning that it is an excellent business choice.' "
